A Barrier-Free Car for My Family – Please Help Us Gain Freedom
My name is Vanessa, I’m 23 years old, and I live with my family in Salzburg. I am a mom to two wonderful children, including a baby.
Since birth, I have lived with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 (SMA). This condition makes me 100% physically disabled and permanently reliant on an electric wheelchair.
Despite my challenges, I have a big dream: I want to be there for my children just like any other mom.
I want to safely transport my baby, take my son to kindergarten, and go on spontaneous family outings. Right now, we rely entirely on public buses. Navigating with an electric wheelchair, a stroller, and two young children is extremely difficult and stressful.
A barrier-free car, adapted so I can drive directly from my wheelchair, would completely change our lives. It would give me independence and allow my children the mobility they deserve.
Unfortunately, the costs are very high and impossible for our family to cover alone.
The donations will help cover:
- Driver’s license: approx. €6,500 (special car rental needed, plus exams and courses in two different regions)
- Purchase of a suitable vehicle
- Special adaptations for wheelchair use
The total cost is about €200,000.
As a young family, we cannot raise this amount alone. Every donation – no matter how small – brings us one step closer to this dream.
With your help, you are not just giving us a car; you are giving us freedom, independence, and a better quality of life for my children and me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for every donation and for sharing our story.
