Help My Friend Break Free From Education-Related Debt

Hi, my name is Gabrian, and I’m starting this fundraiser to help a close friend in Indonesia who is currently struggling with approximately €1,600 (around IDR 30 million) in online loan debt.

The debt began when my friend needed financial support for education-related expenses. Like many young people, my friend pursued education with the hope that it would lead to stable employment and a better future.

Unfortunately, the reality after finishing their education has been much more difficult.

In Indonesia, finding stable employment with sufficient income can be challenging, especially for young people starting their careers. Everyday living expenses also have to compete with loan repayments, making it difficult for someone with limited income to regain financial stability. My friend has continued trying to find work and improve the situation, but the financial burden has become increasingly difficult to manage.

As repayments continued, what initially began as financial support for education gradually became a cycle that has been difficult to escape.

I decided to create this fundraiser because I have seen the pressure this situation has placed on my friend. I cannot solve the entire problem alone, but I hope that with the kindness of others, we can give my friend an opportunity to move forward.

Our fundraising goal is €1,600. The funds raised will be used specifically to help settle the outstanding online loan obligations.

I understand that asking people we have never met for financial support requires trust. For privacy and safety reasons, I will not publicly disclose my friend’s full identity or sensitive financial information. However, we are committed to being transparent about the purpose of this fundraiser. Any supporting documents that are shared will have personal information properly redacted.

Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference. €5 or €10 may seem small, but when many people contribute together, it can significantly reduce this burden. If donating is not possible, simply sharing this fundraiser would also mean a great deal to us.

This fundraiser is not about avoiding responsibility. It is about helping someone who initially borrowed money for education, faced difficulties finding stable employment afterward, and is now trying to find a way out of a difficult financial situation.
